Description

Hero was Aphrodite's priestress on Sestos. She and Leandros were famous lovers in Greek mythology. her priestress status forbid her marriage but they kept having a secret affair which eventually ended up tragically for both of them.

Initially designed for the mythical women contest, but got carried in the details and scheduled workplan jumped off the boat screaming..+O
since it was no more entering the contest, I re-worked the character's face to give her the features of a real mythical woman : actress Gene Tierney.

Second comment, good figure, border seems squashed and a bit flat. Very very incredibnably gooooood! +7

i really like it :) but it seems a flat ... her dress and the whole background are gorgeous ;)

Funny that you mentioned Gene Tierney, because what first struck me about this image was how much it looks like the old Hollywood glamour shots of the 30s and 40s. Lovely. :)

you are handling both stylish "anime-cartoon" feel and "realistic" very well with confindece.
i like seeing updated style of Art Nouveau. mucha will be proud.

nitpick.. her back doesnt seem to have any anatomical detail. her dress also looks great yet, it doesnt seem to wrap her body in a realistic way. these are really minor picking at really well executed art though. great job. and much respect for your art.
Cheers!

Holy Shit, nicely done. Love the soft tones. 8o

Great details, but I agree with Hoon, her back lacks bone stucture and muscle tone. I also think her face could use a touch more shadow blended in as well as a few more highlights. I also noticed the left side hand may need a bit more of your general lighting. It was easy to pick out those little things that seem wrong, because almost everything is just right. Those details aside, I think this is an extremely impressive work, and you should be very proud of it.

Thanks everyone :)
HOON, Nerfherder: I agree with all what you said and i must admit i pretty much gave up on that piece on the end. I've updated the face though, it looked obviously flat compared to the rest but adding the highlights seems to make even more confusing the lighting on this piece which was a bit of a problem to me since the very beginning. As for the back, there's nothing merely because i got no idae what muscles usually show on a not-body-builded female back :( I have to find out in that..
thanks again.

I agree with everyone that this piece is great and I think it has its own beauty...I mean this is really gorgeous! But getting to the nitty gritty ;) her right hand appears blobbish to me, though maybe it's just me. And the little jewel/red ball hanging down her back appears very out of place how it is positioned. It doesn't seem right and I dunno if I can lay a finger on it. I think maybe if you straightened it out it would look more realistic, because the curve in the chain it's hanging on just isn't doing it justice. I dunno, I'm crazy...enough of my babbling, this is incredibly lovely..I've never seen such a majestic face...keep up the great work! I love it!

I am glad you spent all this time working on the details. Sometimes you have to go a few steps further to make the painting stand out more. I love this! I agree her back needs more bone definition and her right hand could use some more work, but overall it's a very nice piece. I can't stop staring at the beautiful border framing the painting:)

Just beautiful! I absolutely love the style! I must say though...her body seems to depart from the shading style on her face. I think some harder shadows would do the trick. Really looks lovely though!

This is really beautiful work. The colour scheme is harmonious, the render rich and smooth like a traditional oil painting. And I love the old Hollywood glamour look. :) Actually this kinda reminds me of the cigarette ads (Yurkish Gold?!)... but I meant that in a nice way. :p

I've updated the piece, added some anatomical definitions on her back.

She is really really loaded with jewelry!!
I love the symbolism of the red skirt under the white dress (hidden passion right?)
composition, colours and attention to datails especially the flower in front, are simply stunning as usual (thumbup)

It's a shame this didn't get in, very lovely work! The frame is dazzling, love the detail work especially on the male centaur at the left :] Her clothes are particularly fetching!

Hey, nice image. You're one of my favorite artists as of late. Thanks for showing the ref, too. It's nice that you really integrated it into the art as a whole instead of just taking a ref and copying it bit for bit. Way too much of that late and it never gets interesting. I have a particular liking for the lower portion of the border... really nice.

Gorgeousss!! there are lots of details which are really fun to look at ( i almost miss the snake and the apple) and yet the piece doesn't look crowded at all; the face and the dress keep remaining in focus and the color scheme is just as strong. wonderful work!

Another wow! I also love the exquisite detailing and when I first saw the thumbnail I had to check it out as the face was so recognizable. You definitely captured the look of Gene Tierney (it's those sleepy , sultry eyes!). I wish though that the skin had as a luminent quality as the background and the dress but this is still an amazing piece of work. If I could do half of what you do , I'd be happy!
